Harry Potter and Friends

As I was still learning how to make this blogging thing work during the second week of my blog when I posted the following, I ended up posting it as a reply instead of as an original post. So, I've copied it out and posted it here, in case you are interested.

Libraries are a great place to learn about books that are similar reads to the Harry Potter series. (Yes, I'd like there to be more Harry Potter books myself, but Rowling can only write so fast. Too bad for us readers.)

The Waukesha Public Library has a list of books of interest to Harry Potter fans. Here's their URL: http://www.waukesha.lib.wi.us/kc/harry.shtml. This library's list includes lots of books with magic in them, not just fantasy.

I like to stretch my mind with other fantasy books though, such as the Charlie Bone series. While these characters all have special gifts inherited from the Red King, their gifts are less magical and more just gifts, like the ability to move objects or stir up one heck of a nasty storm.

If you just want more about the Harry Potter books though, check out this website. It gathers HP news and presents links all on one page. Watch out that you have your spyware/adware protectors turned on though. Mine popped up to let me know spybot was working through this website. Here's the URL: http://www.hpana.com/news.17939.html.So, what great fantasy, young adult websites have you found? Do you have any favorite books in this genre, besides Harry Potter?
